Glass Chandelier + Wall Sconce

The Autumna collection is inspired by the warm glow and the layering of colors of Fall leaves. Organic, dual-textured glass leaves in pink and gold softly diffuse the light to create a warm and natural feel with a subtle pop of color.

The Frame

The classic 3-tiered shape is easy to use in different environments and has simple construction to let the glass leaves be the focal point of this design. I worked extensively with the factory to refine the glass arm holders as the curve of the arms needed to be modern yet soft, and their connection to the distributors needed to be clean and strong (no wobbly arms). I also wanted to make this fixture KD as much as possible so the box was smaller.

Top Screw Method - meant for arm KD, but looked messy and mechanical.

Internal Screws Method - cleaner look but the center seam looked messy. Also, cutting square cutouts in the bottom dome was difficult.

Final Version - center band looked the cleanest while keeping all the connections inside the distributor. Pivoting arms help make the box smaller too.

The Glass

A lot of care was spent making sure the glass leaves were the correct size, shape, and texture. I communicated back and forth with the factory reviewing and revising models, and I even made my own version to help show the natural curves and vein texture I wanted. Using the combination of soft colors, sugar glass texturing, and natural leaf vein ribbing created a beautifully diffused light with color that didn’t overpower.

Initial and revised factory clay models.

My clay model helped communicate the natural outer edge and leaf veins.

Color choices - I changed from 3 colors to 2 for a simpler look and assembly.

Adding the sugar glass texture created a soft, diffused light.
